The Manzanita tree

Scientific name: Arctostaphylos Manzanita

Medical uses

A cider (made from the fruit) is used to treat stomach complaints and to build appetite.Also,a drink made from the leaves is used to treat colds and  diarrhea.A poultice(poul·tice) of the chewed leaves is applied to sores and headachs.

Habitat​

The manzanita lives in dry coastol slopes and in conyons up to 1200 feet. 

Edible parts of manzinita

You can eat the fruit raw or cooked, but it is hard to digest. The fruit should be eaten in moderation.

Also,they can be dried and grounded into powder and can be used to  flavor soup.  The berries can be made into a cooling drink.  They can also be crushed into a unfermented cider.
